About

Inclusive, Trauma-Informed Care You Can Trust

Hi, I’m Cynthia Dunn, LCSW-R. I’m an experienced Licensed Clinical Social Worker in private practice since 2015. I’ve been providing therapy to individuals and their families since 2010. I offer individual therapy through secure telehealth in a warm, supportive, and affirming space where people of all backgrounds and identities are welcome. I believe emotional health is closely connected to our relationships, mental and physical well-being, work, finances, and the stress we carry from both past and present experiences. In our work together, we focus on understanding emotions, processing difficult experiences, and building healthy coping skills that support real, lasting change in daily life. I earned my Master’s degree in Social Work from the State University of New York at Stony Brook in 2010 and my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from American University in 2006. I have worked in a wide range of clinical settings, including inpatient, outpatient, and crisis intervention programs, which has given me well-rounded clinical experience and the ability to support clients through many different challenges. Today, I use this experience to provide thoughtful, high-quality care tailored to each individual. As a trained and experienced social worker, I rely on evidence-based practices and take an eclectic approach to treatment. While my work is grounded in a psychodynamic perspective, I also draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing, Gestalt Therapy, Person-Centered Therapy, and Animal-Assisted Therapy, among other approaches. This allows me to tailor therapy to your needs, goals, and personal style. Clients often come to me feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or emotionally exhausted. Therapy is a place where we slow things down, identify patterns, and work toward change in a way that feels supportive and manageable. I take a collaborative approach — you are the expert on your life, and my role is to offer guidance, tools, and a compassionate presence as you move forward. If you’re looking for a therapist who is warm, affirming, experienced, and committed to seeing the whole you, I would be honored to support you on your healing journey.
